Affiliate World visited China for our first-ever AW China Tour, we headed to three major cities in seven days and made a 3-part video blog for you to enjoy.

What did we do?

Last September 2018, members of the Affiliate World team flew to China, where we hosted meetups in Shenzhen*, Shanghai, and Beijing.

We drew in new attendees and exhibitors for Affiliate World Asia in Bangkok as well as future shows and of course, snuck in a little extra fun in each city.

(*we had to cancel the Shenzhen meetup due to Typhoon Mangkut)

SHENZHEN

Our first stop on the tour was SHENZHEN, also known as China’s “Silicon Valley”.

Our team had managed to settle in right before level 5 hurricane Mangkut swept over South China, which resulted in the cancellation of our Shenzhen meetup.

After the storm blew over, we headed out to visit AWasia speaker, Zack Franklin, who is based in the city. We scoped out Huaqiangbei, a must-see a storefront of 90% of the world’s electronic and one of the top shopping destinations located in the subdistrict of Futian.

If your gadget says “Made In China,” then chances are that it originated from Shenzhen.

The biggest city in China, SHANGHAI was the second stop. We enjoyed incredible food, rebel hideouts, and an amazing turnout for the affiliate meetup.

While there, our team met with Herschel Supply Company and discussed ecommerce within Asia. For some exploring, we took a breather at the Yu Garden (“Garden of Happiness”) located in the Old City before taking a ride on the Guinness World’s fastest elevator that goes 42.8mph and is located in Shanghai Tower.

At the AW China Tour meetup, over 150 attendees from the affiliate and performance marketing industry showed up for a night of next-level networking.

Our final stop of the Affiliate World China Tour was the beautiful city of Beijing.

The team made sure to tick off some major experiences from their bucket list while in the city. These included visiting the 600-year-old Forbidden City and walked along the Great Wall of China. Fun fact is that they have a 144-hour visa for tourists! So maybe the next time you’re flying by Asia you should set aside a few days to explore beautiful Beijing.

At the AW China meetup, we had Benjamin Yong as one of our hosts for the evening and he shared his key insights on the Southeast Asian market. That evening, the floor was packed with new faces, from affiliates to ecommerce entrepreneurs to Amazon sellers, there was an abundance of networking opportunities that attendees took full advantage of!

One week went by too fast for our first-ever Affiliate World China tour, but it was definitely one for the books.
